Dates and facts

History:
The Department of Journalism opened its doors in 1994. The first head was the famous Kazakh publicist and researcher of journalism, candidate of philological sciences, associate professor Z.S. Tayshybaev. The Karaganda writer and publicist V. Mogilnitsky, the prominent Kazakh journalist M. Sembay, the talented Kazakh poet K. Saugabay, the famous Kazakh journalist, author M. Tokmyrza contributed to the formation of the journalism department.
Over the years, the heads of the department were B.K. Momynova, Zh.K. Smagulov, S. Sh.Takhan, V.T. Abisheva, M.K. Zhumabekov. Currently, the head of the department is the candidate of philological sciences, associate professor Ramazanova Zh.S. The first class graduated in 1997.

Accreditation and leadership:
All programs of the department have national accreditation. They occupy honorable positions in national rankings.

Employment:
The department graduates are in demand in the labor market. The employment rate is 80%. Today, graduates of the department work in the national and international media, in press centers, PR agencies, and teach at the journalism departments of Kazakh universities.

Physical infrastructure:
At the Department of Journalism, an educational television laboratory is a complex that includes a studio, editing, control room, radio center, and an experimental classroom. The laboratory conducts practical training in television and radio journalism.
