The Department of Organic Chemistry and Polymers trains specialists in the field of chemical and petrochemical production, modern technologies of pharmaceutical production, offers Bachelor and Master programs.
Students of the Department have the opportunity to study in the following programs: «Chemistry and Chemical Engineering», «Pharmaceutical Engineering and Nanotechnology», «Technology of Pharmaceutical Production». The training program includes such actual disciplines as «Technology of deep processing of oil, gas and coal», «Modern polymer composite materials», «Computer modeling in the production of organic materials», «Design of modern pharmaceutical production», «Standardization and quality control of medicinal substances», «Industrial technology of medicines».
Graduates of the Department can work at enterprises for the production of organic substances, polymers, paints and varnishes, gun powders, solid and liquid rocket fuels; enterprises for the processing of oil, gas, coal, enterprises for the extraction, preparation and transportation of hydrocarbon raw materials and their rational application; defense enterprises, in the mining industry; research and design industry institutes; secondary technical educational institutions, in pharmaceutical organizations for the manufacture, production of medicines, pharmacy organizations; bodies for standardization and certification of medicines (testing centers, laboratories for quality control, standardization and certification); chemistry and toxicology departments of the forensic medicine center, poison control centers at emergency hospitals; pharmaceutical information authorities; educational organizations; organizations of science; organizations of social protection.
The Department has scientific circles for students in four areas: chemistry of organophosphorus and heterocyclic compounds; chemistry of polymeric materials; synthesis and research of polymers based on polyester resins; development of medicine delivery systems using micro- and nanoparticles.
The scientific interests of the Department are related to the study of problems of synthesis and research of new biologically active substances based on functionally substituted heterocyclic and organoelement compounds; chemistry of heterocyclic compounds; synthesis and research of polymers based on polyester resins; medicine delivery systems using micro- and nanoparticles; properties of «smart» materials. .
