History
Department of "Algebra, geometry and mathematical logic" was formed in 1997 through the merger of two basic departments of the Faculty of Mathematics: "Higher Algebra" and "Geometry and Topology".
The Department of Higher Algebra was opened in September 1967 at the Physics and Mathematics Faculty of the Karaganda Pedagogical Institute (KPI). The first head of the department was the rector of KPI, Associate Professor S.B. Baimurzin. In March 1972, on the basis of the Department of Higher Algebra KPI, the head of which was the rector of the pedagogical institute, Associate Professor. S.B. Baimurzin, was created Department of Higher Algebra of the University.
The department was headed by professor T.G. Mustafin, senior teacher N.T. Mochernyuk, Associate Professor K.Zh. Zhetpisov, Associate Professor T.H. Makazhanova.
Professor T.G. Mustafin, in parallel with the creation of the Department staff, did a lot of work with the students, the future teachers of the department, namely K. Zhetpisov, T. Nurmagambetov, M. Tserr, A.R. Yeshkeev, E. Nurkhaidarov.
Since 2013 to 2021, the department was headed by Professor Eshkeev A.R., who is a student of Professor T.G. Mustafin. Eshkeev A.R. known as a specialist in the field of model theory, in particular, in the field of Jonsson theories. Yeshkeev is well known in the world logical community as a specialist in the field of model theory, in particular, in the field of Jonsson theories. In the 2021-2022 academic year, the department was headed by associate professor Kasymetova M.T., since August 2022, the department has been headed by associate professor Medeubaev N.K.
In 2014, the Department of Mechanics, which trains specialists in the direction of "Mechanics joined to the professor T.G. Mustafin Algebra, Mathematical Logic and Geometry Department". The Department of Mechanics was founded in 2004. The head of the department was Doctor of Technical Sciences. K.A. Tursunov. Then the magistracy was opened on the educational program "Mechanics". Since 2021, the educational program "Robotics and Mechatronics" has been opened.
Students:
Mechanics is one of the most interesting natural sciences of great practical importance. It is a symbiosis of mathematics, physics, information technology.
Robotics is a scientific field aimed at the development and design of robots and systems that can replace human labor and automate complex technological processes.
Mechatronics is a field of science and technology based on the combination of mechanics and electronics, computer components that provide the design and production of new mechanisms, machines and systems with intelligent control of their functional movements.
These educational programs are in demand among applicants, so the contingent of students is increasing annually
The department trains students from different regions of Kazakhstan, in particular, from Astana, Almaty, Pavlodar, Zhezkazgan, Shymkent, Kyzylorda, Mangystau.
Teachers:
The staff of the department includes 17 teachers, including a doctor of physical and mathematical sciences, candidates of physical and mathematical sciences, PhD doctors, masters with basic education in mechanics and mathematics. Among the staff of the department there are the holder of the title "The best teacher of the university of the Republic of Kazakhstan"; members of the International Association of Symbolic Logic "Association for symbolic logic" (ASL), 4 honored workers of Karaganda Buketov University; 2 holders of the badge "For merits in the development of science of the Republic of Kazakhstan".
The teachers of the department conduct classes at the Faculty of Mathematics and Information Technology, Physics and Technology, Chemistry, Economics.
The teachers of the department carry out research in the field of introducing the latest technologies in education and science. They are participants in major international conferences held in the USA, France, England, Sweden, Finland, Austria, Poland, China, Malaysia, Serbia, Bosnia and Herzegovina. The teachers of the department have undergone foreign internships in France, Czech Republic, Russia, Japan, Great Britain, and Poland.
Accreditation and Leadership:
The educational programs of the department are nationally accredited by the Independent Agency for Quality Assurance in Education of the Republic of Kazakhstan and take up a significant positions in national ratings: in 2020 6В05402-Mechanics took 2nd place according to the IQAA rating, 7М05409301-Mechanics - 2nd place (http://nkaoko.kz / item / 8859).

The graduates of the department have a good reputation among employers. The employment rate is 90%.
Projects:
The project for grant funding of the Republican State Enterprise “Karaganda State University named after academician Ye.A. Buketov” on the topic "Fragments and their classes of models", 2019-2020.
The project for budgetary grant funding of the Ministry of Education and Science of the Republic of Kazakhstan on the topic "Comprehensive assessment of the physical, mechanical and operational characteristics of fiber-reinforced self-compacting concrete, improving the operational durability of products through mathematical modeling", 2020-2022.
The project for budgetary grant funding of the Ministry of Education and Science of the Republic of Kazakhstan on the topic "Classes of cosmanticity and their classes of models", 2021-2023.
Partners:
The department actively collaborates with scientists from the Novosibirsk State University (Russia), Institute of Mathematics, Kazan University, Krasnoyarsk, Irkutsk, Omsk, Barnaul, Ulan-Ude.
As for non-CIS countries, the department closely cooperates with the professor of the University of Lyon Bruno Poise and his French colleagues. These scientific ties are primarily established due to the traditions laid down by the founder of the Karaganda school of model theory, Professor T.G. Mustafin and one of the world-class specialists in the field of model theory Bruno Poise. B. Poise is a professor at KSU. Professor Bruno Poise was a scientific consultant for doctoral students of the department.
The department works closely with the State Enterprise Institute of Applied Mathematics (Karaganda). The department maintains contacts with universities and scientific centers of Almaty, Astana, Russia, France, Czech Republic, Japan and South Korea.
