From history: created in 1977 with the aim of popularizing the original art of Kazakh national dance, familiarizing students with the achievements of national and world artistic culture. The organizer and the first leader was Korlan Asylbekovna Mukatova. For many years, the head-tutor was a university graduate Amina Baltabekovna Makenova.

Profile: folk dance ensemble "Zharkyn" is a creative "visiting card" of our university. The repertoire of the collective consists of Kazakh dances, dances of the peoples of the East and Asia, modern choreographic compositions. It is a permanent participant in university-wide, city, regional, republican concert and competition programs.

Heads: Toiboldina Aiman Nurlanovna, Orazbekova Aizhan Alimbekovna.

Achievements: in 1997 the ensemble "Zharkyn" was awarded the title of "national". It is a laureate of republican and international competitions, festivals of folk art of Kazakhstan, Russia, Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan, Tajikistan, Turkey, winner of the 1st prize of the International Festival of Creative Youth "Shabyt", laureate of the 2nd Republican Competition of Kazakh Dance named after Sh. Zhienkulova, winner of the Gold Medal of the National Youth Delphic Games of Kazakhstan, laureate of the VI International Festival of Students of the Mediterranean Countries in Turkey, International Ethno-Festivals "Miss Center of Asia", International Festivals of Student Youth (Russia), regional and republican festivals of students, International dance Olympiad of Asian countries, a participant in the programs of the Days of Culture of the Republic of Kazakhstan in foreign countries.
