The department works at all faculties of the university. Its activity is connected with teaching of disciplines "Kazakh language" (levels A2, B1, B2-1, B2-2), "Language of documents" ("Kujattar tili"), "Culture of speech" (Madeni tildesim), "Kazakh alphabet in Latin".

The scientific activity of the department is connected with the research of problems of methodology of teaching Kazakh language, culture of speech, polylingual education; new directions in the sphere of linguistics, translation activity.

The teachers of the department cooperate with the leading universities of Kazakhstan and foreign partners. The main directions of cooperation with foreign partner universities are: training of scientific and pedagogical staff of the department, joint research and conferences.
