History

The department was founded in 1999 by combining the Department of General Psychology and the Department of Preschool Pedagogy. At various times, the department was headed by associate professors R.Sh. Sabirova, Zh.A. Karmanova, O.A. Mikhalkova, G.K. Belgibaeva. Currently, the department is  headed by Doctor of Pedagogical Sciences, docent N.V. Mirza.

Taking into account the needs of society for specialists in pedagogy and psychology, bachelor's degrees in the specialty «Pedagogy and Psychology» have been prepared since 2000. Undergraduates have been trained in the specialties «Preschool education and upbringing» and «Pedagogy and psychology» since 2004.

Teachers:

In total, 18 teachers work at the department, including 3 doctors of pedagogical sciences, 6 candidates of sciences. Seven teachers were awarded the title of «The best teacher of University». Professors Shkutina L.A. and Mirza N.V. are full academicians of the Academy of Pedagogical Sciences of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

Students:

The demand for the department's programs shows the annual growth of the student body over the past 5 years. Students come from different regions of Kazakhstan and foreign countries, namely Uzbekistan, Tajikistan, Russia for training in the areas of «Pedagogy and psychology» and «Preschool education and upbringing».

Employment opportunities:

The employment rate of graduates in 2020 under the educational program «5B010300-Pedagogy and Psychology» is 75%, under the educational program «5B010100-Preschool education and upbringing» is 82%.

Dissertation Councils:

A dissertation council was opened in the direction of «Pedagogy and рsychology» for the defense of doctoral dissertations.

Accreditation and leadership:

All programs of the department have national accreditation in IQAA and occupy worthy positions in national ratings: in the IQAA ranking, the educational program «Preschool education and upbringing» master's degree – takes 1st place, the educational program «Pedagogy and psychology» master's degree – 3rd place; the educational program «Pedagogy and psychology» bachelor's degree – 5th place, the educational program «Preschool education and  upbringing» bachelor's degree – 4th place.

Projects:

Teachers of the department take part in the implementation of the international TEMPUS project and in the development of the international educational project TEMPUS V «Towards a Higher education space in Central Asia: Adapting structures and developing a quality culture». Cooperation of the Department with the Russian Academy of Education is reflected in the membership of colleagues: Mirza N.V. – full Academician of the Russian Academy of Natural Sciences, member of the International Academy of Natural Sciences, Karmanova Zh.A. – corresponding member of the Russian Academy of Natural Sciences, Belgibaeva G.K., Mazhenova R.B., Aitzhanova R.M. – Professor of the Russian Academy of Natural Sciences.

The Department of Preschool and psychological-pedagogical preparation has signed long-term international cooperation agreements with Interkulturelle Weiterbildungsgesellschafte. V. (Germany, Dusseldorf), Charles University (Czech Republic, Prague), Moscow State University of Technology and Management (Russia, Moscow), Academy of Social Management, Moscow, Vyatka State University for the Humanities (Russia, Moscow). Kirov), Yanka Kupala Grodno State University (Republic of Belarus), Saint Cyril and Methodius University in Trnava (Republic of Slovakia).
