History:
The leading role in the training of highly qualified specialists in the field of jurisprudence belongs to the Department of Civil and Labor Law, which has its own history of formation and development. One of the most difficult problems at the beginning of the formation of the Faculty of Law was the provision of the educational process with scientific and pedagogical personnel. This problem was solved when leading scientists from other universities were invited. Therefore, in the period from 1975 to 1977, the Department of Civil Law Disciplines was headed by Gushchin I.V., who was a Candidate of Law, Associate Professor of Kaliningrad State University. The following teachers rendered great assistance in the implementation of the educational process at the department: associate professor Tuezarova A.M., teacher Timshkevich A.E., who came from the Belarusian State University, young specialists Nurgalieva E.N., after graduating from Leningrad State University, Zhdanova A.A. (now Doctor of Law, Professor), Shchegoleva T.P., who is a graduate of the Kazakh State University named after Al-Farabi (now Doctor of Law, Professor, Dean of the Orenburg Agrarian University) and others.
At the end of the 70s, the Department of Civil Law Disciplines was divided into two independent subdivisions: the Department of Civil Law and Civil Procedure and the Department of Agricultural and Labor Law. In 1995, both departments were merged again.
Currently, the department is called «Department of Civil and Labor Law».
At different times the department was headed by: associate professor Yem V.S., associate professor Iosifidi T.P., senior teacher Nurabaeva Z.T., associate professor Kenzhetayev T.R., candidate of juridical sciences, associate professor Idrisova S.B., candidate of juridical sciences, associate professor Mukanova M.Zh., candidate of juridical sciences Zinchenko V.V. From 2008 to 2019, the department of civil and labor law was headed by a graduate who graduated from the law faculty of Karaganda University in 1997, candidate of juridical sciences, associate professor Kizdarbekova A.S..
Since 2019, the department has been headed by the candidate of juridical sciences, professor Ilyasova Gulzhazira Aktureevna.

Teachers:
In total, the department employs 16 teachers, including candidates of legal sciences, doctors of philosophy (PhD), masters of laws, 3 teachers who have the republican title «The best teacher of the university».

Students:
In the 2020-2021 academic year, 84 students receive specialization at the department.

Accreditation and Leadership:
The educational program «Jurisprudence» has national accreditation in IQAA and takes worthy positions in national ratings: the program 6M030100 - «Jurisprudence» took 1st place in the rating of IQAA 2019 and 2020; program 8D04207801 - «Jurisprudence» took 3rd place in the IAAR rating in 2019 and 2nd place in 2020.

Internships:
The teachers of the department actively improve their qualifications in the leading international educational centers in Germany, the Czech Republic, Bulgaria, the USA, according to the programs of the JSC National Center for Advanced Studies «Orleu».
So, in 2013, professor of the department Kizdarbekova A.S. completed a research internship at the International Center for Education and Scientific Information «Interkulturelle Weiterbildungs gesellschaft e.V.» (Dusseldorf, Germany), in 2016 – at PennStateLow (Pennsylvania, USA). In 2014, Professor Ilyasova G.A. completed a foreign internship at the International Center for Education and Scientific Information «Interkulturelle Weiterbildungs gesellschaft e.V.» (Dusseldorf, Germany) on the basis of the Heinrich Heine University of Dusseldorf. In the period from November 2 to December 2, 2020, Professor Ilyasova G.A. completed an international scientific distance training on the topic «Actual tasks and directions of development of legal science in the XXI century» on the basis of the law faculty of the State University of Infrastructure and Technology (Kiev, Ukraine). In the period from September 11 to September 30, 2017, senior teacher Asetova G.B. completed a scientific internship at the Department of Civil Law of the Police Academy of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan on the topic "Legal regulation of entrepreneurial activity in the Republic of Azerbaijan" (Baku, Azerbaijan).

Projects:
The department actively cooperates with representatives of foreign scientific and educational centers. The teachers of the department conduct joint scientific research on the problems of civil science, and participate in the implementation of international scientific and educational projects within the framework of international cooperation with scientists from foreign countries.
2013-2015: Associate Professor Kizdarbekova A.S., Professor Ilyasova G.A., Associate Professor Akimzhanova M.T. participated in the implementation of the international scientific and educational project «On the way to higher education in Central Asia: the structure of tuning and building a quality culture» (TuCAHEA) under the TEMPUS-VI program.
2015-2017: Professor of the department Ilyasova G.A. participated as a performer in the implementation of the fundamental grant theme «Constitutional and legal protection and ensuring the rights of the child in the formation and development of the juvenile system in Kazakhstan and in the modern world» (SNA).
In 2021, as a result of the republican competition, the teachers of the department became holders of a grant from the Ministry of Education and Science of the Republic of Kazakhstan for 2021-2023 on the fundamental topic IRN AP09259787 «Theory and practice of ensuring the quality of regulatory legal acts in the state language (in the field of civil and civil procedural legislation)». The scientific supervisor is the candidate of legal sciences, professor Ilyasova G.A.

Partners:
The department entered into cooperation agreements with foreign professors who were appointed consultants of doctoral students: Mamedov R.Yu., Doctor of Philosophy in Law of the Police Academy of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan (Azerbaijan), Chankovo D., Doctor in Law, Professor of the Southwestern University «Neofit-Rilski» (Bulgaria), Klyueva E. N., Doctor of Law, Professor, Head of the Department of Economic and Transport Law of the State University of Infrastructure and Technologies (Ukraine).
Together with foreign scientists, the teachers of the department published scientific articles in rating journals included in the Scopus database, in scientific journals recommended by Committee for Control in the Sphere of Education and Science MES RK.
