Dates and facts

History

Faculty of Mathematics was established in 1972. The first dean of the faculty was Candidate of Physical and Mathematical Sciences, Associate Professor Tasbolat Smatov. The formation and development of the faculty is associated with the names of specialists who have worked since the opening, namely S. B. Baymurzin, K. M. Makhmetov, N. T. Mochernyuk, V. N. Nam, M. A. Perevertun, N. P. Kostrikina, N. A. Almukhanbetov, T. G. Mustafin, E. S. Smailov and others.

In the faculty the specialty "Mathematics" was opened, later "Applied Mathematics" (1996), "Mechanics" (1997), "Information Systems" (2004), "Mathematical and computer Modeling" (2011), - the opening of educational programs "Mathematics-Computer Science", "Mathematics-Physics", "ICT and Robotics", "Information Systems and Technologies" (in the period from 2018 to 2019), a doctoral program in digital pedagogy (2020).

Students:

Educational programs of the faculty are in demand among prospective students. Over the past three years, their number has increased almost one and a half times. Today, the faculty has 1023 students, 76% of which are holders of educational grants. Among those who entered the faculty, 26 have the sign "Altyn Belgi", 9-winners of international Olympiads, international competition of scientific projects. The faculty trains foreign students from such countries as Mongolia, Azerbaijan, Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan, as well as students from many regions of Kazakhstan: West Kazakhstan, East Kazakhstan, Zhambyl, Kyzylorda, Turkestan, Aktobe, Pavlodar.

Employment:

The employment rate of graduates of the faculty is 97%.

The Faculty, together with the National Research Nuclear University " MEPhI "(Moscow, Russia), implements master's programs: "Information Systems and Technologies - "Economic Security"; "Mathematics - Quantum Metrology and Optoinformatics".

Teachers:

The staff of the Faculty includes 65 teachers, including doctors, candidates, masters of science, holders of the republican title "Best University Teacher", corresponding members of the International Informatization Academy, holders of the A. Nobel Medal for contribution to the development of invention. Now, 12 teachers of the faculty are studying in the doctoral program.

Dissertation Council:

Since 2019, in the faculty a dissertation council has been operating for the defense of dissertations for the degree of Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in the profile 8D05409201-Mathematics.
