Dates and facts

History

The first rector of the university, academician ye.A. Buketov, played a decisive role in the development of the Faculty of Philology, who, being a major specialist in the field of chemical sciences, the founder of Karaganda Chemical and Metallurgical Institute, was an equally well-known writer and translator, a member of the Union of Writers of the USSR. The love for the word, artistic creativity, which he kept for the rest of his life, was manifested in his special attention to the faculty of philology, in concern for the growth of scientific and educational personnel.

Ever since the pedagogical institute, the Faculty of Philology graduates pedagogical personnel for schools with Kazakh and Russian languages. Particular attention is paid to the process of training specialists in Russian language and literature for national schools. The initiative in training specialists of this profile in the 60s originated from Doctor of Medical Sciences, Professor G.A. Meiramov, the founder of Karaganda Scientific and Methodological School.

Teaching staff:

The Faculty employs 79 teachers, including doctors, candidates and masters of sciences, holders of the republican title "Best University Teacher", laureates of the state scientific scholarships for scientists, who have made significant contributions to the development of science and technology, laureates of the scholarships for young talented scientist.

Trainees:

The contingent of students of the faculty is 687 people, 242 of them are trained at the expense of the state educational grant. Every year, the faculty receives about 300 people. Among the students are citizens of Russia, Uzbekistan, and Mongolia. Graduates of the faculty are in demand in the labor market, on average, 85% of them are easily employed after graduation.

The Faculty maintains permanent scientific relations with leading research centers in Poland, Bulgaria, the Czech Republic, Turkey, Germany, Russia, Belarus, Ukraine, Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan and other countries, and is also an organizer and participant of scientific conferences of various ranks.
